Redevelopment of Seaham Harbour
Throughout 2016 Mainline has been involved in extensive work at Seaham Harbour Marina in County Durham. Major investments have been made to improve facilities for berth holders and visitors alike.
Pontoon and Dock Company installed a crane for hoisting boats in and out of the water with a lifting capacity of twenty tonnes. This was a massive undertaking involving the clearing of land adjacent to the marina in preparation for the crane to be securely installed. Mainline has a close working relationship with Pontoon and Dock having worked with them on a number of projects including the dredging of Hamstead Heath Ponds in 2015. On this occasion an excavator was supplied to prepare the ground for the crane’s foundations on the side of the marina. The 14 tonne Volvo machine provided the earth moving capacity to clear ground quickly and efficiently.
The Volvo excavator was also set to work clearing ground for mooring stations for a further 19 berths, taking the total to 96 and an activity centre for kayaking, canoeing and paddle boarding.
In addition to the 14 tonne excavator, Mainline also supplied other plant including rollers and access machines that helped guide the massive twenty tonne crane into place.
Improvements are now complete and the Marina looks forward to an increase in visitors throughout the coming year.
