Is there a charge for delivery / collection?

Do Mainline provide long term hire contracts?

Do Mainline provide Hire Guard insurance?

Do I need to pay a deposit?

Yes, you will need to pay a deposit if you don’t have a credit account with us.  Deposit amounts may vary, please contact the Mainline team on 01283 222044 for details.

Do I need identification?

Yes, we require two forms of identification, one form of photo identification plus a recent utility bill to confirm your address. Please contact the Mainline team on 01283 222044 if you would like more details.

Do I need a driving licence to operate the machinery?

No, you don’t require a driving licence in order to operate our machinery on site.  However if the plant can be driven on the road and you intend to do so, you must comply with UK law.

If you have any queries on the correct licences for larger machinery they can be answered by our training department. Mainline are also able to provide a full range of training courses if required.  Please visit our dedicated Training section for more details.

Do Mainline offer training courses?

Mainline offer a comprehensive range of training courses from General Health & Safety to Machine Operator Training plus everything you need for High Level Access. We have our own training facilities but with our customers interests in mind we can arrange courses in other locations that may be more convenient for you. When should I make my reservation?

Mainline advise that you make your reservation as soon as possible to avoid any disappointment. Our machines tend to be in high demand at all times of the year.

What if something goes wrong with my kit on site?

In the unlikely event that a problem occurs with our hire equipment, Mainline have five mobile service engineers operating throughout the Midlands and South Yorkshire.  Please call us should you require their assistance, they will endeavour to be with you quickly and therefore reduce any downtime.

Can I extend my hire period?

If you need to extend your hire period simply contact the Mainline team on 01283 222044 and they will do their best to accommodate your needs.

Do you offer 'Off-Hire' collection?

Finished with your kit? Simply contact the Mainline team on 01283 222044 to arrange collection.

What is my responsibility for equipment return?

If you collect the equipment yourself, you will need to organise its return unless otherwise agreed with the Mainline team. 

If a member of our team is collecting the equipment, we ask that you ensure that it is accessible to us including the key if applicable. It needs to be fully charged if battery operated or fuelled if diesel / petrol operated. 

Do I have to clean the equipment I've hired before returning it to Mainline?

We recommend that you wash down the equipment before returning it to us if it’s particularly dirty, as there will be a cleaning charge if we deem a full clean to be necessary before it goes back out for hire. 

What happens if something is broken, damaged or missing?

In the event of any breakages, damage or missing parts, you will be notified of the charges. 

What is the biggest excavator Mainline can provide?

Whether it’s a DIY project or a major construction job our range of excavators will be sure to accommodate. From a super compact 0.8 tonne excavator to extra-large 20 tonne, Mainline have the right excavator for the job.

What accessories can Mainline provide?

Mainline carry all the accessories you could possibly need when using our kit, please ask a member of the Mainline team when you call to make your reservation.

Do Mainline supply operators?

Mainline do not provide operators for our hire equipment. However, we do provide all the training you will need to ensure your own operators are safe and legal. Visit our dedicated Training section for details.

How do I apply for a trade account?

If you are a professional company who would like to benefit from our excellent service at trade level, you can apply for a Mainline Access & Training Trade Account.  To apply for a Trade Account please download our application form, complete and return it using the details shown on the form.
