AER Rents acquires the Mainline Hire groupPosted December 21, 2020
We are delighted to announce that the future of Mainline Hire Group will now rest in the hands of AER Rents, an O’Flaherty Holdings group company.
After 39 years as Mainline Tool & Plant Hire, the business has grown to become one of the region’s leading plant and access hire companies, serving an extensive customer base throughout the Midlands and Home Counties. Currently Mainline’s activities include the hire of tools, plant, access, and power generation equipment to customers across the construction, groundwork, utilities, civil works, and landscaping sectors. Keith and I will continue in our leadership roles with the existing fantastic team.
Together with the previously acquired Mr Plant Hire Plc business the group now offers a combined fleet of almost 1,500 modern powered access machines, making it the 12th largest UK access supplier by fleet size. The acquisition also provides the group with access to the Super MEWPS sector, thereby expanding the portfolio to include some of the tallest hire machines available in the domestic market.
We have always had a good working relationship with Mr Plant Hire and are pleased to have the opportunity to become part of the AER Rents family. Mainline have always invested in class-leading assets and AER Rents investment will give Mainline Group, and their customers, access to expertise and resources to support our growth plans.
O’Flaherty Holdings is an organisation well known in Ireland, primarily through its role in the development of the Irish motor industry. Founded in the 1940s by legendary motor industry entrepreneur, the late Stephen O’Flaherty, the group continues to be owned and managed by members of the O’Flaherty family. Its subsidiaries include Motor Distributors Limited, distributors in Ireland of Mercedes-Benz passenger cars and commercial vehicles and MSL – a network of independent motor dealerships providing sale and after-sales service for Mercedes-Benz, Mazda & Skoda.
The group first invested in plant hire in 2014 with the acquisition of London based Mr Plant Hire and earlier this year also acquired Ireland based Drogheda Hire & Sales. Each business will retain its identity, while capitalising on the strengths of their collective offerings and reach across the UK and Ireland.
AER Rents will continue to expand its presence in the plant hire market through a combination of strategic acquisitions and organic growth, offering its customers access to a wider offering of modern products and services. The group was advised by KPMG Corporate Finance & Legal Services, Dublin. Mainline Group was supported by Jacksons Accountants and Nelsons Solicitors, both located in Nottingham.
The Mainline family wish you, your team, and families a very happy Christmas.
Carole and Keith
