This course is designed to provide the practical skills and the operating safety knowledge necessary for the safe and efficient operation of an excavator.

• Responsibilities under the Health and Safety at Work Act, 1974, and other relevant legislation such as PUWER and LOLER regulations
• Pre-operational checks and daily maintenance
• Battery care and refuelling procedures
• Mobility and stability factors
• Safety rules applicable to operating
• Safe use of attachments
• Excavating and backfilling
• Safely loading a vehicle e.g. dumper or trailer

By the end of the Course

Delegates will be able to carry out pre-shift checks and daily maintenance, operate the equipment safely and efficiently and correctly site the equipment, allowing for ground and weather conditions and other environmental factors.
